Statewide Public Forums on the Direct Care Crisis
On October 26th and October 28th, The Ohio Olmstead Task Force sponsored virtual public forums throughout the state of Ohio. These forums highlighted the difficulties Ohioans are facing in finding in-home care that allows them to continue to live independently and access their communities.
Our advocacy partners at centers for independent living throughout the state — The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, Access Center for Independent Living in Dayton, Services for Independent Living in Cleveland, The Center for Disability Empowerment in Columbus and the Center for Independent Living Options (CILO) in Cincinnati — hosted these forums to allow legislators, as well as the general public, to hear directly from their consumers whom this crisis affects, and urge state leaders to take action.
Below are the recordings of the webinars. If you would like more information on how you can help our advocacy efforts surrounding the direct care crisis, please contact Patrick Ober, the Chair of the OOTF Direct Care Workforce Crisis Committee at POber@cilo.net.
