OOTF advocates at the local, state and national level for law changes to increase support, protections, and autonomy for the disability community.
Committees and Workgroups are formed by OOTF for members to join focusing on different advocacy topics. Read about our committees and workgroups here.
Advocacy efforts include submitting public comments on bills and policies, hosting events to raise awareness, and meeting with legislators to advise on matters that impact people with disabilities.



Some issues that OOTF has recently advocated on on include:
- Phasing out subminimum wage for people with disabilities.
- Improving the direct-care workforce crisis and wages for caregivers.
- Strengthening and enforcing fair housing rights for the disability community.
- Providing recommendations for Home and Community-Based Services.
- Increasing and protecting accessible parking access for disabled people.
- Promoting accessible housing ideas and solutions to housing advocates, builders, and representatives.
